Gemini's symbol, the twins, proclaims it to be the most dual of the four dual rashis. Since these twins are a male and a female, Gemini natives tend to blend both male and female energies within themselves. This blending does not promote happiness through progeny, though, because Venus is lord of both the fifth house of children and the twelfth house of loss, which implies expenditures through children. This conjoining of houses five and twelve does, however, encourage enjoyment, since the twelfth house rules enjoyment, the fifth rules play, and Venus is the significator for pleasure. This combination particularly suggests sexual enjoyment because maithuna, one of the Sanskrit words for sexual intercourse, is derived from mithuna, the word for 'couple', which happens to be the Sanskrit name for the constellation Gemini.

Geminis are frequently attracted to the arts as a profession because Venus, the lord of the creative fifth house and significator of the creative arts, is exalted in the tenth house. They may not succeed at this aim, though, because Venus is also lord of the twelfth house of loss. Gemini natives are credited with loquacity, presumably both because the Moon, who is renowned for its fluctuations, rules the second house of speech, and because Mercury, who rules speech, also rules the lagna. Speech may not always serve Geminis well, however, for the Moon is Mercury's enemy.

Because Gemini is the third house of intellect in the natural zodiac, and because the Sun rules the third house of a Gemini lagna, Gemini natives tend to rely on their intellects, particularly because Mercury is the planet of intellect. This reliance may however create difficulties for those Geminis who set out to pursue a spiritual path, especially since Saturn, the lord of the ninth house of spirituality, is a materialist graha who also happens to be lord of the eighth house, the negation house to the ninth. This tendency is compounded by the fact that Mercury is the enemy of Jupiter, the natural significator of spirituality. Geminis usually prefer philosophy to devotional practices when they do go for spirituality.

Mars being the lord of the sixth and the eleventh (sixth from the sixth) houses and also the significator of the sixth house is for Gemini triply potentiated to cause disease. This situation may also indicate ill-health to friends or older siblings, who are ruled by the eleventh house.
